We arrived in Lauterbrunnen in the early afternoon and the weather was cooperating, so Carol and I took the tram to Murren while our husbands attended an area health council via zoom at the hotel.
We had a nice little conversation with this beauty who came to say hello.
We shared some soup and a sandwich and enjoyed walking around the quiet streets of Murren.
Did we say that things are very expensive in Switzerland?
Purchasing this Toblerone chocolate with the Matterhorn and Murren
printed on it may have been an impulse buy, but we did share!
Rayman & Michele Meservy and Brent & Carol Snow were fun travel companions.
When it rains, the number of water falls increases to 72 in the Lauterbrunnen valley. It is a site to behold.
Trummelbach Falls was quite different this time with all the rain. Those stairs were a virtual waterfall.
I had a rain jacket over my warmer jacket and got completely soaked, but it was so worth it!
Since we were already soaking wet, we climbed up behind Staubbach Falls.
And when it began to snow ... oh it was magical ... catching flakes in our mouths like a little kid.
Only that small patch of my jeans stayed dry. They were pretty heavy once they were soaking wet!!
And to top it off, they hadn't turned on the heat in the hotel yet ... too early in the season. What??
The next morning we headed up to Mannlichen via Wengen for a hike.
From Mannlichen you can see the village of Wengen below and then Lauterbrunnen beyond.
The wind was so strong we really had a hard time walking. We didn't venture too far since a storm was brewing. Due to the bad weather, some of the trains and trams were cancelled.
The weather can change so fast that you need to be prepared for anything!
Masks on public transportation were required, but no other restrictions.
We just can't get enough of the views. The same view can change is a matter of minutes.
We were so blessed to have clear skies for another Lauterbrunnen adventure.
I found this dress in the Keller at the area office. We thought we should at least have our picture taken with both of us in our typical German attire. The dress then went home with Carol Snow.
With the time difference, we settled in after our adventures and watched General Conference
together in the hotel's family gathering area. It was a great ending to a full day.
The next day we went from Lauterbrunnen to see the St. Beatus caves.
We couldn't complain about the weather ... a beautiful sunny day!
We made a stop at Thun to take in the sites before heading back to the hotel.
