The Pealing of the Bells, Christmas Eve

The Pealing of the Bells on Christmas Eve is a Frankfurt tradition when 1000’s of people gather on the Römer to hear the bells. Andersons invited me to go with them since Dave had scheduled an appointment and wouldn't be done in time.

It was magical with all the people and the music. I was so sad that Dave had to miss the experience.

I was surprised we found so many of our fellow missionaries gathering in the crowd.

Ellen Conrad, Debbie Moench and me.

We walked toward the bridge as we heard the bells from the different churches.

On our way home, we came back to the Römer we could hear the crowd singing
Silent Night. It was so moving to hear everyone join their voices
with the accompaniment of the orchestra atop the church.
Magnificent, and so emotional.

We didn't want Dave to feel totally left out, so we sang to him at our apartment door.

This Christmas was different from any other, but wonderful in its own way.
We will remember Christmas 2019 forever.
